Patrick Mahomes exits win early with injury as Chiefs hold breath

The Kansas City Chiefs won again. This time it wasn't as dramatic, but it may come at a price.

Patrick Mahomes limped off with an ankle injury after a nasty collision on a fumbled fourth down with less than eight minutes remaining.

Mahomes came off the bench as the Chiefs' backup, and former Philadelphia Eagles starting QB Carson Wentz made a cameo, completing 2-for-2 passes.

Mahomes also appeared to be on his way to get an X-ray after the Chiefs' 21-7 win over the Browns. According to the Kansas City Star.

“It's not a broken ankle. It's painful,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters after the game.

The Chiefs starter finished the game with 159 passing yards and two touchdowns, going just 19-of-38 on hits as his team maintained their lead in the AFC with a 13-1 record.

The week is a bit short as the Chiefs play at home against the Texans on Saturday before heading to Pittsburgh on Christmas Day.
