Patrick Mahomes sets the record straight with Chiefs doubters after Super Bowl repeat

Throughout the regular season, people wondered what the hell happened to the Kansas City Chiefs.

They won their division, but all the numbers point to a pretty subpar season by their standards.

Patrick Mahomes threw for the second fewest yards of the season and Travis Kelce failed to reach 1,000 yards for the first time since 2015, but receivers were dropping the ball left and right.

Well, something went right in the playoffs, and the Chiefs celebrated their third Super Bowl win in five years, officially becoming a dynasty.

Kansas City played the Miami Dolphins in subzero temperatures in the wild-card round, winning the game 26-7, which wasn’t all that surprising.

However, they trailed on the road in their next two games against the Buffalo Bills and top-seeded Baltimore Ravens. They won both games.

They’re betting on the underdog in the Super Bowl as well, with the line close in favor of the San Francisco 49ers at about 1.5x.

However, it was the Chiefs who won in overtime.

The Chiefs have talked about their struggles in the regular season and how they overcame adversity throughout the playoffs.

Mahomes, who won three straight games as an underdog to win another Super Bowl, was candid during his postgame celebration.

“Please know that the Kansas City Chiefs are no underdogs,” he said. “That’s all you need to know.”

His point is valid. Mahomes is currently 17-14 and faces a double-digit deficit, including the playoffs. He has faced margins of 10 points or more in all four Super Bowls he has played in, but still won three of them.
