They have confidence, and they also have wide receiver Javon Baker, a fourth-round pick of the New England Patriots.

Baker doesn’t just think he can make an immediate impact in the NFL.

He’s hinted he’s already one of the best wide receivers in the league. He doesn’t think, “There are 10 receivers who are better than me.”

“Because of your imagination. [if you think that]” Baker said in a recent Instagram video.

Baker displayed that confidence during his induction press conference with New England reporters, talking about his excitement for his rookie year in Foxboro.

“Come to our home stadium and bring some popcorn,” he said, via ESPN. “That’s all I can say to you guys: Bring me some popcorn. I’ll get the guy in the wheelchair up.”

There’s nothing wrong with having confidence, but Baker knows he’ll have to back it up in his rookie campaign. And he’ll likely end up catching passes from Drake Maye, the Patriots’ No. 3 overall pick. Drake Mayo is expected to be the Patriots’ next quarterback, replacing Bill Belichick with Jerod Mayo.

Baker will have to fight for a starting spot in training camp before proving he’s one of the best young receivers in the league.

Baker, a Central Florida native, will face fellow rookie receiver Jaylin Polk, who represented Washington in the national title game last season. They also have veteran Kendrick Bourne, 2023 standout Demario “Pop” Douglas and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

The competition will be fierce, but Baker doesn’t lack confidence.
