Supermodel Paulina Porizkova She looks different from her usual bikini photos.
Porizkova, 58, shared a photo of herself lying in a hospital gown and medical cap, revealing she was in hospital for a “long overdue” hip surgery.
“From bikinis to hospital chic…long overdue hip replacement,” she shared on Instagram.

“It turns out I was born with congenital hip dysplasia, which caused the cartilage in my lower back to wear away. And when I say 'worn out,' I don't mean worn out. . No, there aren't any left. All three doctors I visited flinched when they saw my X-rays. ”
Hip dysplasia is the medical term for a hip socket that does not completely cover the ball of the top of the femur. According to the Mayo Clinic, this can cause the hip to partially or completely dislocate.
“In fact, it's so bad that there's no point in moving one hip at a time; it actually impedes healing and mobility,” she added.
Porizkova posed underwater in a blue bikini, showing off her toned physique and smiling as she posted on social media.
“I spent my last vacation carrying my old butt, and now it's time for a new one,” she shared with fans after a trip to St. Barts.

The next photo shows her taking a selfie in a hospital bed.
“I'm so grateful that this is a solvable problem. I found a doctor I really trust who specializes in anterior hip replacements. I had a great vacation,” Porizkova said.
“…And now, as my sister-in-law said, 'Let's take a day off work and let everyone wait for you to change your mind!' So, here we go.”

Porizkova went on to talk about how grateful she was to her boyfriend Jeff, as well as her family and friends, for being “by my side.”

“The vacation itself was wonderful and at times bittersweet. I took my beloved Jeff to the Caribbean island I first discovered on a work trip in 1981 at the age of 16,” she said.
“I got married there in 1989, and up until eight years ago my husband and his kids and our kids came back every year. This is the first time since then.”

Porizkova was married to Ric Ocasek from 1989 until his death in 2019. They have two children, Jonathan and Oliver.
