Paulina Porizkova Embraces Aging at 60

Paulina Porizkova, the 60-year-old supermodel, recently took to Instagram to share her reflections on vulnerability and the aging process.

She posted two photos: one of her in a white bikini enjoying a sunny day by the water, and another showing her in a casual bathroom mirror selfie. In her caption, she wrote, “This is me. Holiday, pretty light, posing for a shot. This is me too. House, not a big light, not a pose. This is 60.”

Porizkova elaborated on her experience of aging, discussing her approach to diet and exercise, saying, “Sometimes it isn’t a healthy diet for 60 years, exercise every once in a while. It’s been 60 years since I learned what works and what doesn’t, and it all changed. Just when I think I’ve figured it out, I have to start over.” She highlighted that aging has taught her to be more present in the moment: “The beauty of 60 is that I understand that I am in the lesson now, not passing the exam.”

Authenticity seems vital to her communication with followers. Last year, she opened up about the death of her husband, Rick Okasek. Reflecting on the fifth anniversary of his passing, she shared a video of herself in tears, stating that it was important for her to express her true emotions, having spent years trying to appear strong for her loved ones. “So five years later, I let everyone know how I felt,” she remarked. “I was sad. I was overwhelmed. I was sentimental.”

Porizkova met Okasek in 1984 while working on a music video, and they married in 1989. After nearly three decades together, they separated in 2018. Recently, she announced her engagement to her partner, writer Jeff Greenstein.
