Time to Pay Student Loans, Says Fox Business Host
Fox Business Host Charles Payne has urged borrowers to resume their student loan payments, highlighting the Biden administration’s recent decision to end the suspension that began during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Department of Education recently confirmed that it will stop the pause on student loan payments, which many had hoped would continue.
Payne appeared less than sympathetic toward concerns that resuming payments might create financial challenges for borrowers. He expressed frustration over the idea that educated individuals might struggle, calling them “the most spoiled elitists” and suggesting their complaints were exaggerated.
“The unemployment rate for those with bachelor’s degrees is just 2.5%,” he noted, contrasting it with the higher rates for those with less education. He emphasized that individuals with less schooling faced unemployment rates nearly double that of college graduates, pointing out that the job market currently has 7.2 million openings available.
Despite setbacks, including a Supreme Court ruling against efforts to alleviate student loan burdens, Biden has continued to pursue measures to support borrowers. In August 2024, the Supreme Court upheld a decision blocking the administration from implementing any new debt relief initiatives.
“We’ve created a caste system in America,” Payne stated, criticizing the disparity in experiences among different socioeconomic groups. He questioned how many people lack investments in the stock market, reflecting on the economic conditions under previous administrations.
