PGA Tour officials made the official announcement. There will be no golf on AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Sunday. The weather caused play to be completely halted as water continued to enter the golf course and it was too windy to play safely.
Following several updates, tee times have been postponed by 1 p.m. ET, officials announced. announced a statement.
“The final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has been postponed to Monday, February 5th due to inclement weather and safety concerns,” the statement said. “Tee times are scheduled for 8:00 a.m. to 10:25 a.m. Pacific Time, 1st through 10th.”
A day after Windham Clark made history with a course record 60, the weather decided to take it personally.
Even though the tournament is expected to conclude on Monday, the weather on the Monterey Peninsula may not allow it.
therefore, Tuesday’s scenario is also being playedby Rex Hoggard.
If the umpires start play on Monday and more than half the field completes 18 holes before the suspension occurs, it could end on Tuesday. However, if less than half of the field completes the play or does not start, Clark is declared the winner.
That would be a real shame considering this is a signature event with a hefty purse of $20 million. Needless to say, fans will no longer be able to watch another round at this storied course.
All morning. People continued to post videos about the weather on the golf course and surrounding area. As the morning wore on, it became clear that there would be no golf.
Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis shared this video just after sunrise Sunday.
You can see the waves crashing onto the course. But the biggest problem is not the rain, and so far it hasn’t rained. It’s the wind, and its speed reaches 90 miles per hour.
PGA Tour member Andrew Putnam shared the weather from his room and showed how crazy it is.
He then jokingly took another video and said it wasn’t that bad. But the wind is howling so much that he can barely hear what he’s saying.
Heavy rain is expected to fall in the evening and overnight. Play on Monday is also likely to be in jeopardy, given the amount of rain that fell on the golf course earlier in the week.
