Pedro Pascal, Trixie Mattel, Harry Styles and 250 Other Celebrities Endorse Planned Parenthood in Full-Page NYT Ad

Entertainment Industry Voices Support for Abortion Rights

Many celebrities and entertainment industry figures have rallied together, signing a letter in favor of operator custody for abortion facilities, particularly in response to Republican efforts to limit federal funding.

Notable signatories include Pedro Pascal, Olivia Rodrigo, Harry Styles, Addison Rae, Megan Trainor, Sheryl Crow, Cyndi Lauper, Scarlett Johansson, Laverne Cox, Cara Delevingne, Zoe Deutch, Melissa McCarthy, Natasha Reinette, and Calista Licensure Schipp, alongside hundreds of others.

This prominent display of support was highlighted in the “I’m a Planned Parenthood” campaign, as reported by The New York Times. The feature emphasized the financial pressures that abortion organizations face, which threaten their capacity to deliver essential healthcare to women.

One line from the ad states, “I’m for freedom… I’m for healthcare… I’m for you and me, not for the government, because I decide where we need it and where we can get it.”

Staff at Planned Parenthood Health Centers strive daily to ensure that all patients receive the care they require regardless of their background. These centers are crucial to the healthcare system. The message applauded cultural leaders and those advocating for reproductive rights, affirming support for Planned Parenthood.

Research indicates that abortion is a significant aspect of Planned Parenthood’s operations, a point often obscured by claims that categorize it as “health care.” The organization also started expanding its services in more controversial areas like hormone distribution to transgender youth around 2017.

Laverne Cox noted, “Trans people, just like everyone else, need trustworthy healthcare providers. Planned Parenthood facilities are essential lifelines for many, offering comprehensive care.”

During the Biden administration, the organization has seen a boost in federal funding, which has raised concerns among some lawmakers. The latest report from Planned Parenthood, entitled “The Power for Hope,” revealed that 402,230 abortions occurred last year, an increase from 392,715 the year before, along with a rise in taxpayer support totaling $792.2 million—around $100 million more than the previous year.

Despite this, the Trump administration has voiced strong opposition to federal funds supporting abortion facilities, with the latest budget bill passed in the House proposing cuts to Planned Parenthood’s funding.
