House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in an interview Monday that she hasn’t had a conversation with President Biden since he dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.
Pelosi, D-Calif., acknowledged that she had not spoken to Biden, 81, since he abandoned his reelection campaign more than two weeks ago. Appearing on CNN Monday.
The two Democrats last spoke when Pelosi spoke with Biden before he announced on July 21 that he would not run for a second term.
“I was looking for a winnable campaign,” Pelosi recalled of the conversation on CBS News on Sunday, “and I didn’t see any signs of that happening.”
She denied rumors that she led a campaign to pressure Democrats to remove Biden from the running.
But when asked on CNN on Monday if their relationship was “okay,” Pelosi did not answer directly.
“I hope so, although I’ll have to ask him,” Pelosi said. “I love Joe Biden and I’ve respected him for over 40 years.”
The former House speaker warned that polling against Donald Trump makes it clear Biden cannot win the November presidential election, sources previously told CNN and Politico.

According to CNN’s source, Biden fired back during a tough conversation with Pelosi and was “furious.”
Pelosi has sought to distance herself from the notion that she led a campaign to oust Biden from the election, instead praising his recent accomplishments as president.
She also praised Vice President Kamala Harris, who replaced Biden as the top Democratic candidate.
Pelosi described the former prosecutor as “very politically astute,” as demonstrated by his victory in a fierce primary for California attorney general.
