Pennsylvania Governor Criticizes Kamala Harris Over Book Remarks
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has openly criticized former Vice President Kamala Harris in a recent interview, describing her book as “absolutely awful.” In an interview with The Atlantic, Shapiro rejected claims made by Harris in her memoir, “107 Days,” which included her thoughts on Shapiro as a potential running mate.
Harris had suggested that Shapiro had raised questions about how to secure artwork from the Smithsonian, among other concerns. Additionally, she portrayed him as wanting to be heavily involved in decision-making, reminding him that “the vice president is not a co-president.”
In response, Shapiro vehemently dismissed her portrayal. “Did she really say that? That’s simply nonsense. I believe her explanation is a blatant lie,” he stated.
He further clarified, “I certainly asked many questions. If someone was discussing forming a partnership, wouldn’t you also have questions?”
Alberta from The Atlantic pointed out that both Shapiro’s and Harris’s teams had a similar account of their meetings. When asked if he felt betrayed by Harris, Shapiro suggested that Harris was perhaps trying to promote her book: “It seems like she’s covering herself by selling books.” But he quickly corrected himself, noting it might not be appropriate to frame it that way.
Harris detailed concerns about Pete Buttigieg in her writing as well, stating that he might have been an ideal partner if he weren’t a gay man, reflecting on the complexities of her decision-making process.
Ultimately, Harris chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for her running mate, despite facing scrutiny over his past misleading statements about his military background.
Shapiro, who has been vocal about Biden’s health, also expressed that he tried to address those concerns directly rather than going through the media. “I was upfront with them about everything,” he said. “You need to be honest in those situations.”
As of now, Harris’s office has not responded to requests for comments on these allegations.
