The Pentagon is deploying US Navy destroyers in the U.S. Bay as part of its mission to secure a tropical border, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said Monday.
USS Heavy Parnell left Yorktown for deployment to the US Gulf, Parnell said at his first Pentagon briefing.
“It is not only essential for the United States to control our borders through the land, but it is equally important for us to control the waters of our territories, and this development directly supports the Northern Command's mission to protect our sovereignty,” he added.
Heavy Northcomb Commander Air Force General Guillot authorities are deployed for maritime homeland defense missions. General Alex Glinkywich, co-staff director, explained with Parnell, said:
Grynkewich, known as “Grinch,” added that she will be involved in a mission to block medicines and illegal products heading towards the US, deploying in the US Gulf and surrounding areas.
“She will be working very closely with the US Coast Guard,” he said. “Of course we won't share a scheme of her actual operation here, but we know that is her mission to get there.
Parnell emphasized the importance of its mission to secure a southern border.
“President Trump and Secretary Hegses are very clear that border security is national security. Our own US borders have been advocated by criminal illegal aliens, human smugglers, drug traffickers and multinational gangs, while defending foreign borders for decades,” he said.
“The Department of Defense is proud to defend our hometown and the territorial sovereignty in our country and in the United States. While illegal border intersections have fallen by 93%, we will not be halted until we have 100% operational control over our southern border,” he added.
Parnell said there are nearly 10,000 troops deployed at the border.
“We're also seeing the Striker Brigade Combat Team surge out there to strengthen the land's borders. But this also has a sea component: it's part of the USS mission, to ensure that there are waterways protecting the southern border,” he said.
Parnell also noted that he made history by first using the term “American Bay” in the Pentagon Briefing.
“This is the first time I've recognized the American Bay in the Pentagon press briefing room.
President Donald Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the US Gulf within the first week of his second administration.
