Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell sent a memo throughout the department on Wednesday, ordering the removal of all official online content that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion in line with President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses.
In a memo entitled “Digital Content Refresh,” Parnell directed all senior Pentagon leaders, combatants, defense agencies and field activity directors to remove Pentagon news, featured articles, photos and videos that promote DEI.
By March 5, 2025, the component must perform all possible steps in line with records management requirements. All articles, photos and videos removed from DOD websites and social media platforms must be archived and maintained in accordance with applicable recordkeeping policies.
