Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) training at the Department of Defense’s education division recommended a book that claims Thanksgiving “perpetuates the power of white supremacy,” a watchdog report claims.
Government watchdog OpenTheBooks releases July report The report alleges that the Defense Department Education Agency (DoDEA) is indoctrinating military children with a “radical DEI curriculum,” with more than 60,000 children enrolled in DoD schools across the US and around the world.
The watchdog group filed a Freedom of Information Act request for “DEI Personal Development Content Provided to DoDEA Employees” and received back slides from a promotional presentation for a book titled “Coaching for Equity,” which is peppered with anti-American and anti-Western sentiments.
“DoDEA employees were given a copy of the book ‘Coaching for Equity,’ which criticizes capitalism, ‘patriarchy,’ traditions like Thanksgiving, and the existence of the United States of America,” OpenTheBooks said in its report.
State Department’s new diversity chief believes the US is a ‘failed historical model’ with a ‘colonial past’

For example, he claimed Thanksgiving is linked to “white supremacy” and is part of a “distortion of the truth” about U.S. history.
“In the United States, we barely remember that we are on stolen land, land taken from us by blankets deliberately infected with smallpox, broken treaties, and outright genocide,” the book states. “Our lack of memory and willful distortion of the truth have led to horrific events. Take Thanksgiving, for example — typically celebrated with a big meal and family gatherings — history has been sanitized and the brutality of colonialism erased, perpetuating the power of white supremacy.”
“The United States of America was not founded on principles of fairness and justice,” he writes in another chapter of the book.

He also criticized America for being a capitalist society.
“The idea of white supremacy has developed hand in hand with colonization and the expansion of capitalism,” the book states. “And it’s important to remember that capitalism created the idea that white people are superior and that people of color exist only to serve their masters.”

Several Republican lawmakers took notice of the report and wrote to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, calling on the Pentagon to end the indoctrination practices.
The district’s DEI trainer said the American flag is becoming a symbol of “hate” and that employees who resist CRT should be fired.

“Defense Department employees were given a book called ‘Coaching for Equity,’ which attacks capitalism, ‘patriarchy,’ traditions like Thanksgiving, and the existence of the United States as a nation,” the watchdog group alleged.
“These books are blatant racism to hundreds of millions of Americans and delegitimize the very founding of our country,” Reps. Elise Stefanik of New York and Jim Banks of Indiana wrote to Austin on Monday. “Extremist, conscious ideology is corrupting the schools of our military’s children. Instead of addressing this problem, you have only made it worse. Military personnel should not have to choose between serving their country and saving their children.”
The Department of Defense released a statement to Fox News Digital saying the documents requested through FOIA were part of a “voluntary book study.”
“The book, ‘Coaching for Equity,’ was used in an independent reading study. The book is not used in any DoD-wide educator professional education or professional development programs,” the Defense Department said.

“It is shameful and intolerable that our military personnel risk their lives to protect our country while their children are being taught that America is a racist country that is not worth fighting for,” Banks said.
“Our service members face many challenges, but ensuring their children have a quality patriotic education should not be one of them,” Stefanik added.

Fox News Digital previously spoke with DoDEA teachers who said they were tired of being forced to do DEI.
“If they want me to start preaching to kids about our history, [is]”…If they were racist they should have said so when they were hired, otherwise I would not have agreed to it. It’s not true,” one teacher said.
“I call it the Social Marxist orientation,” said another.
