Person found dead in wheel well of United flight

A tragic discovery was made on Christmas Eve on a flight from Chicago to Maui.

A United Airlines spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that a body was found in the wheel well of one of the plane's main landing gear upon arrival at Maui's Kahului Airport on Tuesday.

According to United's website, Flight 202 departed O'Hare Airport at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 24 and landed at Kahului Airport on Maui at 2:12 p.m. local time.

An airline spokesperson said the cockpit could only be accessed from outside the aircraft.

The plane was a Boeing 787-10.

“At this time, it is not clear when or how the individual gained access to the wheel well,” the spokesperson said.

The airline added that it is cooperating with law enforcement authorities in the investigation.
