Recent Developments in Texas Manhunt
A manhunt is ongoing in Texas and Oklahoma related to an Independence Day attack, with more information emerging about one of the suspects. This individual, implicated in the anti-ICE attack, is also believed to have links to protests associated with ANTIFA from earlier this year.
The FBI has issued a notice to locate Benjamin Song, 32, who is suspected of participating in the assault on an ICE agent in Alvarado, Texas. During the incident, local police shot him in the neck as he attempted to flee in a vehicle. Authorities have announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture and prosecution.
This case involves multiple suspects, with ten already facing federal charges for attempted murder and related firearms offenses. Song, a former Marine Reserve, is also expected to face similar charges. The FBI has advised that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Previously, Song was identified in a lawsuit concerning an ANTIFA protest near Fort Worth, where demonstrators allegedly assaulted individuals supporting a Drag Queen event. His involvement in this case is under scrutiny.
Reports indicate that Song is associated with a group opposing regulation at public events, the Elm Folk Brown Gun Club, which gained attention during the Fort Worth counterprotest. His family background includes a father who is a Dallas-based attorney involved in community organizations and a mother who works at a local martial arts studio.
Another suspect linked to this incident, Daniel Rolando Sanchez Estrada, faces additional charges related to evidence tampering. Sanchez had reportedly received legal residency under the Biden administration.
Court records reveal that multiple individuals charged in this case engaged in planning discussions via online chat groups. On July 4, the assailants allegedly fired over 20 rounds from an AR-15 during the attack, creating considerable chaos.
Investigations are ongoing, focusing on connecting the network of suspects through their communication channels. Evidence found in suspect residences includes anti-government literature that suggests coordinated planning for such attacks.
Moreover, the investigation has uncovered graffiti and materials expressing hostility toward ICE, highlighting an organized opposition against the agency. Further inquiries by the FBI are expected as they seek to understand the full scope of these activities.
