Kentucky Man Goes Viral Over Taylor Swift Engagement Post
A man from Kentucky, claiming to be an ex-boyfriend of Taylor Swift, gained significant attention recently with a humorous post reacting to her engagement. Despite the light-hearted nature of his comments, Swift seemed less than amused.
Andy Sly, from Louisville, shared real photos from a concert in 2008 where he was with Swift and his then-girlfriend. On Thursday, he took to X to express his feelings, saying, “The way my high school girlfriend finally got engaged. Andrew, that’s fine. She wasn’t suited to you. I hope her husband isn’t a handsome buff football player.”
The post quickly went viral, racking up an impressive 34 million views. Following the buzz, the 35-year-old felt compelled to clarify his relationship with Swift, stating, “The photos are 100% real, but we’ve never dated. I’m just a huge fan.”
Sly recounted meeting Swift when she opened for Alan Jackson in Nashville. He fondly remembered, “For about five to ten seconds, I held her. We waited in line for an hour after her concert, and she made time for each fan.” His candidness apparently deceived many in the media, leading to interpretations that he had a history with the pop star.
With over 4,000 comments on his post, users took a variety of stances. A few hinted that Sly deserved recognition, referencing his link to Swift’s earlier breakup songs. Others simplistically joked about the absurdity of missing an opportunity to be with someone of Swift’s fame, suggesting that he dropped the ball on a potential relationship.
Still, some individuals were quick to defend him, highlighting that there is no need for negativity towards Sly. “What I hate is hatred, hatred, hatred,” one user remarked, emphasizing support over criticism.
