Pet owner who lost his home in Palisades Fire overwhelmed as reunited with lost dog

A heartwarming video shows a Californian who lost his home in the Palisades fire reunited with his dog, whom he feared had been killed, and is overcome with emotion as the dog runs into his arms.

Casey Colvin was filmed sobbing after finding her lost dog Oreo as she slipped through her neighbor's gate and eventually jumped into her arms.

“Oh, honey! Oh my god, you're alive! You're alive!” Colvin cried, throwing his arms in the air and cheering.

Colvin was so overwhelmed that he ran in circles with his arms in the air and yelled, “Yes!” Oh, thank you, Jesus! Thank you, God! ”

Colvin was ordered to evacuate his home at work and then spent five hours in traffic trying to save his dogs, Oreo and Tika Tika Tika. he told NBC Los Angeles.

“I literally rescued them from the streets, and they deserve better than this,” he sobbed to reporter Liz Kreutz as he sat in stopped traffic. “How can I get home?”

When Colvin was unable to return home, firefighters offered to search for the dog. While firefighters rescued Tika Tika Tika, Oreo fled into the neighborhood.

Shortly after, his house burned down. Despite the loss, Colvin was determined to find Oreo, posting a missing dog flyer online and using the air tag he had attached to his pet to try to find him.

On January 12, Kreutz shared an update on the search efforts. Colvin said Oreo has been seen twice, including once “sleeping in the rubble of a neighbor's house.”

Colvin returned to the wreckage of his home with a professional dog catcher and finally found Oreo, hidden in the dirt and debris left behind after the fire.

The heartwarming reunion, filmed by NBC, shows Colvin coaxing the frightened dog out of the ruins and into a neighbor's driveway.

The Palisades and Eaton wildfires remained out of control Monday morning, nearly a week after they began ravaging Los Angeles County, killing at least 24 people and displacing nearly 200,000 people.

At least 39,000 acres of land were burned and 10,000 structures were destroyed.
