Pete Alonso's wife shares heartfelt message following his departure from the Mets

Pete Alonso’s Time in New York Comes to an End

Pete Alonso’s chapter in New York has concluded, and his wife, Hayley Alonso, is reflecting on their remarkable journey together.

On Thursday, Hayley shared on Instagram that her husband has signed a five-year, $155 million deal with the Orioles. She posted a picture from the Mets’ Opening Day in 2019, noting how his huge smile and dirty jersey perfectly encapsulated his spirit on the field.

“Anyone who has followed him knows his passion for the game is just so evident,” she wrote. “Like many of you, I watched nearly every game and every season. But what you didn’t see were those behind-the-scenes moments that were never publicized. As his partner, I can assure you, Pete gave everything he had every single day.”

In 2019, Alonso had an outstanding season, hitting a record 53 home runs, which marked the beginning of five consecutive All-Star appearances and earned him the National League Rookie of the Year award. Despite the shortened season in 2020, he cemented his legacy this past summer, becoming the Mets’ all-time home run leader with 34 or more home runs in each season.

However, Hayley expressed that she hopes people remember Pete for more than just his statistical accomplishments. “While the accolades are appreciated, I truly believe his legacy should reflect the depth of his commitment and the effort he invested into this game, this team, and this city,” she emphasized. “Every single day.”

In her heartfelt post, Hayley acknowledged the wonderful support from fans, who welcomed Alonso with open arms, making them feel at home in New York. She expressed her gratitude for the lasting friendships they’ve built along the way, stating, “Thank you for loving Pete. I am genuinely thankful for everything.”
