An HBO documentary aimed at exposing Bitcoin's pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto has reportedly named Canadian Bitcoin Core developer Peter Todd as the cryptocurrency's inventor.
Karen Hoback — HBO producer Money Electric: The Mystery of Bitcoin Documentary — According to Politico on Oct. 9, Todd and Blockstream founder Adam Back are confronted with evidence that Todd pieced together to conclude that he is Nakamoto. report.
The documentary's finale ends with Todd saying, “Well, I'm Satoshi Nakamoto,” in response to Hoback's question.
This admission on behalf of Todd is not concrete evidence that the Canadian developer is actually the inventor of Bitcoin. Todd is well known for bringing up the phrase “I am Satoshi” as a way to support the privacy rights of true creators.
Todd has already publicly denied being the creator of Bitcoin. asked a question Hoback's conclusion after watching documentary clips leaked online before his debut seemed to point to him being Nakamoto.
