PGA golfers snap at unruly fans during Waste Management Phoenix Open: ‘Just shut up’

The Waste Management Phoenix Open, also affectionately known as the Wasted Management Open, is famous for being the loudest event on the PGA Tour, but it may be getting a little out of hand.

At the beginning of the tournament, a woman fell from the stands and was hospitalized. In fact, restrictions on alcohol sales at the tournament began on Sunday. But that doesn’t mean the party is completely cancelled.

But other fans have taken this party too far, and other golfers are now seeing it backfire.

On Sunday, two videos of professional golfers responding to fan comments during the final round went viral.

One video showed 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson entering with fans and security intervened.

It’s unclear what prompted Johnson to make the comment, but rumors abounded that it was a negative comment as captain of the Ryder Cup — Team USA’s loss to Team Europe in Rome late last year. is.

Mr Johnson told the gallery: “Please stop. Someone said that. I’m tired of it.”

“Shut up.”

Shortly after, Billy Horschel confronted a fan who had been talking during someone’s backswing.

“Buddy, when I tell you to shut up, shut up,” he said. “He’s here trying to hit a golf shot. That’s our job.”

Speaking during the backswing is strictly prohibited, but the crowd didn’t take him too seriously and responded with laughter.

The tournament will be held at TPC Scottsdale, home of golf’s loudest holes.

The course’s 16th hole seats approximately 16,000 and is completely enclosed, making it the only enclosed hole in golf. Always noisy, in recent years it has become a glorified fratography party.
