High School Soccer Match Ends in Brawl

A chaotic altercation erupted following a high school soccer match in Jersey City, drawing attention when a photojournalist alleged he was grabbed by the throat.

The incident took place Saturday night after a game between St. Benedict’s Prep and St. Peter’s Prep. St. Benedict’s standout forward, Amadouhan, was said to have ignited the turmoil after shaking hands and accusing a player from St. Peter’s.

According to reports from NJ Advanced Media, the photographer present at the game was attacked. As Amadouhan confronted the opposing player, his teammates reportedly intervened to restrain him.

In the video captured, at least one punch could clearly be seen thrown, indicating the intensity of the situation.

There were also claims that the incident wasn’t fully recorded, particularly the moment when photographers Tom Horak and Amadouhan allegedly rushed towards the scene.

Footage reportedly shows Amadouhan fleeing the area, believed to be during the argument’s escalation.

The Holac, the attacked photographer, noted he had a mark around his neck but opted against seeking medical attention on-site.

Despite the turmoil, police were not called, and the photographer chose not to file any charges, as reported.

“What he did is definitely not okay,” Hollack commented. “It was a horrifying moment. He charged and grabbed me by the throat. I can’t really tell if he was aiming for my shirt or what.”

Meanwhile, St. Benedict’s Prep acknowledged the situation, stating they were conducting an internal investigation. According to spokesperson Larry Geraghty, the school takes such incidences seriously and is reviewing all eyewitness accounts and footage.

“While we’re still gathering all the facts, we consider this very seriously,” he added. “Our coaching staff and school leaders are actively looking into the matter.”

Additionally, Mike Cherenson, representing the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association, mentioned that he was aware of the situation and was in the process of collecting further details.

The Athletic Director of St. Peter’s Prep, Rich Hansen, described the altercation as “high school nonsense,” reflecting a less serious view on the events that unfolded.
