Picks against the spread for Sunday, Monday games

The NFL playoffs will feature four more wild-card games over the next two days, featuring MVP candidate Josh Allen, 2,000-yard runner Saquon Barkley, likely Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels, and a 14-win season. The Vikings will play the Rams away. neutral site.

Let's dig in again:

Sunday

Buffalo Bills (-9) vs. Denver Broncos; 47+: If there's one game this weekend that might get a little out of hand, it's probably this one.

It's a tough playoff debut for Denver's rookie quarterback Bo Nix. The Bills were undefeated at home this season, but the most recent memory came in 2023 when the Broncos rolled into Orchard Park and won 24-22. So they will be on guard.

Josh Allen had an MVP-caliber regular season, and all 22 of Buffalo's starting lineup is rested and healthy. The Broncos are healthy, but the Knicks' supporting cast on offense, other than WR Courtland Sutton, isn't scary. And while Denver's defense is respected, let's not forget that they allowed 497 passing yards to Jameis Winston.

It's Super Bowl or bust for the Bills, with teams like the Ravens and Chiefs standing in their way. However, I don't think they are going to take any chances in this game and will look to defeat the Broncos early.

Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5) vs. Green Bay Packers. Less than 45.5: Eagles forward Jalen Hurts missed the past two games before clearing concussion protocol on Friday.

Green Bay's Jordan Love missed Sunday's game against the Bears with an elbow injury, but was recovering later in the week. He will be without wide receiver Christian Watson, who suffered a torn ACL against Chicago.

Do you want to bet on the NFL?

I think the Eagles offense can function at a high level even with Hurts at less than 100 percent.

Saquon Barkley won't rush for 260 yards against the Packers like he did in Week 1, but he and AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert have a strong groove on both sides of the ball. And I think it would be great if the fans cheered loudly. The Eagles are the team that's making the party even more exciting here.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3) vs. Washington Commanders. 50.5 or above: The Buccaneers may have had the most turbulent season of any NFL team. They finished just 10-7 and needed an upset against the Saints in Week 18 to win the NFC South title.

But their journey includes a 37-20 win over these managers in Week 1, a game that featured a look at what the Kliff Kingsbury vs. Jayden Daniels offense looked like. I had no idea what would happen in advance.

In Week 2, the Bucks handed the Lions their first of two losses this season with a 20-16 win in Detroit. Tampa Bay found a way out despite trailing 463-216 in yards.

The Bucks suffered four straight losses in the middle of the season due to injuries to WRs Chris Godwin and Mike Evans in the same game, but after Evans returned and finished 6-1, Bucky Irving became the team's mainstay. As a result, Baker Mayfield was reversed. ball.

I also think coach Todd Bowles' decision to give Evans a record-tying 11-year streak of 1,000 yards receiving and $3 million that could have been a win will go a long way for the Bucs players. I believe that I am deaf.

Daniels and his team are just as dangerous, and the Bucks have had some key injuries on defense. Mayfield is 2-2 in playoff games so far, with the Bucks beating the Eagles and the Browns beating the Steelers. He has 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in four games.

This should be left on full blast overnight.

Buccaneers, 35-31

Minnesota Vikings (-1) vs. Los Angeles Rams; Under 48: Due to wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area, the NFL moved the game from SoFi Stadium to Glendale, Arizona.

Could it affect one or both teams?

The Vikings are the first wild-card team in NFL history to win 14 games, and many will say it's a flaw in the NFL's system that they have to play the 10-win Rams on the road.

There are some interesting layers to this matchup.

Only two teams have beaten the Vikings this season. The Lions won twice in Week 8 in Los Angeles, Minnesota, and the Rams won 30-20, going on a nine-game winning streak.

The Rams have a Super Bowl-winning coaching and QB duo in Sean Payton and Matthew Stafford. With Kyren Williams, they can try to match the damage the Lions' Jahmil Gibbs did to the Vikings on the ground. And perhaps Aaron Glenn's Lions defense showed the Rams pass rusher the path to Sam Darnold.

But I think it's all resolved with a small spread, and I put my faith in a Vikings team that has been mostly great for four months.

Vikings, 24-20

This week's lock: Steelers (2024 Lock 9-9).
