Brosnan Open to James Bond Return
Pierce Brosnan seems open to the idea of stepping back into the role of James Bond, particularly with Denis Villeneuve taking the reins for the upcoming project. He jokingly commented, “No one wants to see the lumpy 72-year-old Bond, but if Villeneuve had something up his sleeve, I’d be in.”
Brosnan believes it could be an entertaining venture, perhaps with some laughs. He humorously mused about how a “bald hat” or prosthetics might work in such a scenario.
Views on Bond’s Future
Halle Berry, a former Bond girl, doesn’t foresee a female 007 anytime soon. In her view, while there are many fantastic candidates, the character must remain male. She stated, “I’m very feminist, but James Bond has to be a man. You can’t have a woman. That won’t work. James Bond has to be James Bond; otherwise, it’s something else.”
Brosnan, who played Bond from 1995 to 2002, appeared in four films including “GoldenEye” and “Die Another Day.” He’s been following closely as Amazon gained full control of the Bond franchise, sharing that he’s heard exciting whispers about potential new candidates for the role. “There are a lot of great candidates out there, and I’m sure they’re going to make it a sight of joy,” he expressed.
Robert Davi, who portrayed a villain in one of the Bond films, voiced his hope that the franchise doesn’t lose its essence under Amazon’s guidance. Reflecting on his connection to the original producers, he mentioned, “I hope not. They were, as far as I’m concerned, Ronald Reagan’s conservatives and great people.”
