Pima County Sheriff reports no communication from Mexico regarding the Guthrie tip

Amid news that an anonymous tip led to a search for Nancy Guthrie in Mexico, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared on Thursday that they haven’t been in touch with authorities across the border.

Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, president of Bascando Corazones Nogales in Sonora, Mexico, mentioned that her organization received word that Guthrie’s grave might have been found. A tipster indicated that searchers could locate a body resembling Guthrie’s description in the Mariposa area near Nogales, as reported by 12 News. Bascando Corazones Nogales specializes in searching for missing persons in Mexico.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos acknowledged the reports from the tipster in a social media statement. He stated, “At this time, we have not received any communication from Mexican authorities. This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information we receive.”

Guthrie, who vanished from her Tucson, Arizona, home in February, is suspected to have been kidnapped, although there’s no evidence to suggest she was taken across the border. Video footage from a doorbell camera showed a masked individual wearing gloves at her home around the time of her abduction. Interestingly, it also captured another masked figure entering the house weeks earlier.

After police arrived several hours post-abduction, they found that her back door had been forcibly opened, leading to speculation that more than one person might have been involved. As of now, no arrests have been made, though ransom demands were allegedly sent to media outlets like TMZ.
