Podcaster Gavin Newsom Forced to Borrow $3.44 Billion to Pay for Medicaid for Illegal Aliens

California must borrow $3.444 billion to cover the shortage of Medi-Cal, the state's MedCaid program. It's a year after expanding to provide free healthcare to illegal aliens.

As reported at the time by Breitbart News, “From January 1, 2024, illegal aliens living in California will be eligible for taxpayer-funded health insurance.

Gov. Gavin Newsom boasted of the budget contract that made such a dramatic offer possible. [sic]California will be the first state to achieve universal access to the scope of healthcare,” he told Newsom in a June 2022 statement.

But it is clear that a year later, Golden State lacks cash to follow its commitments.

As Politics Note:

California will need to borrow $3.444 billion to fill the budget gap for the state's Medicaid program, a Newsom administrative official told lawmakers Wednesday in a letter obtained by Politico.

This is the maximum amount California can borrow and is sufficient to cover Medi-Cal (state Medicaid program) bills by the end of the month, Treasury spokesman HD Palmer told Politico separately.

Originally, the state estimated it would be expensive. $3 billion a year Guaranteed [undocumented immigrants]. However, a year after the program was fully implemented, it turns out to be more expensive than expected.

Democrats recently expelled Republican state Sen. Carl DeMaio from two budget committees and punished him for demanding greater scrutiny of the state's spending choices.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has launched a podcast during that time to interview conservatives.

Newsom recently signed a bill that would spend $50 million to combat Trump administration policies.
