Poland to Invest $2.5 Billion to Build Up Border Fortifications

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland is investing about $2.5 billion to strengthen border security and deterrence with Russia and ally Belarus, the prime minister announced Saturday.

He was addressing Polish troops in the southern city of Krakow to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory over the Nazis at the Battle of Monte Cassino during World War II.

Poland’s former right-wing government built a $400 million wall on its border with Belarus in an effort to stem the influx of migrants that began pouring in from the Belarusian side in 2021, but the current pro-EU government plans to strengthen it. claims that it is necessary.
