Maryland State Police released body camera footage of Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) being involved in a traffic accident last month.

video, Obtained by The Washington PostPhotos show Maryland State Police troopers responding to the crash, in which Fetterman’s black Chevrolet Traverse and a red Chevrolet sedan were heavily damaged.

According to the video, the officer recognized Fetterman, who was seen with his wife, Gisele, and other drivers on the side of the highway, but did not identify himself.

One officer said he recognized Fetterman as “that really big, tall guy” and “the senator from Pennsylvania.” The Washington Post reported that Fetterman politely answered the officers’ questions.

The same officer later said on the video that Fetterman “was in flight and tried to merge, so he crashed into her.”

Following the June 9 crash in Maryland, it was revealed that Fetterman was driving at a “high rate of speed, significantly exceeding the speed limit.”

A police report obtained by The Hill listed Fetterman as “at fault” for the accident. The senator, his wife and the other driver were all treated for injuries following the crash.

Emergency personnel recognized Fetterman as they approached the scene, according to video obtained by The Post.

“As soon as I got closer I saw he was wearing shorts and a sweatshirt. [I said]”Good morning, Senator,” he said. “I’ve been in this business for 20 years and I’ve never had a politician say anything to me like that.”

Fetterman was treated for a bruised shoulder and his wife was taken to hospital, and both were examined at local hospitals after the accident, where a spokesman said shortly after the incident that they were both in “good condition.”

The senator, who was a former lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania, previously hired a driver but now drives himself most of the time, often driving from Washington, D.C., to Braddock, Pennsylvania, The Washington Post reported.
