Police broke down wooden barricades early Thursday to enter the “Palestinian Solidarity Encampment” at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and arrested dozens of activists after a week of violent unrest.
As Breitbart News reported, police on Wednesday warned activists to leave the area and sent prison buses to nearby Wilshire Boulevard as they began gathering near Royce Hall. Hundreds of protesters came to UCLA to “defend” the camp.
After a tense standoff that lasted several hours, with protesters giving speeches, leading chants of “Liberate Palestine” and singing communist songs, California Highway Patrol (CHP) Police were dispatched, led by police officers.
Some of the activists fled as police began destroying wooden barricades and tents. Others, however, locked their weapons and confronted police. Some activists fired chemical irritants at officers and flashed strobe lights.

Police ultimately prevailed, taking the activists away in plastic handcuffs or herding them at the edge of the quad, albeit in arm-in-arm formation. Demonstrators shouted and taunted officers throughout the police operation.

The encampment lasted a week. UCLA security protected it and pro-Israel vigilantes attacked the encampment Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, delegating security powers to the activists until authorities took action. (Local authorities have promised to prosecute the vigilantes.)
Meanwhile, activists assaulted journalists and prevented UCLA students, including Jewish students, from accessing the campus and facilities surrounding the encampment. They also raised and shouted slogans such as “From the river to the sea/Palestine will be free” and “Intifada revolution”, which refer to the destruction of Israel and terrorism against the Jewish people. I think it’s anti-Semitic.
