Major Drug Lab Raid in Nigeria Linked to Mexican Cartels
Nigerian police conducted a significant raid on a meth lab that is reportedly one of the largest linked to a Mexican cartel. This operation led to historic drug seizures and the arrest of three cartel members.
According to the Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), this operation was announced following a lengthy investigation that revealed collaboration between Nigerian gangs and Mexican cartels.
NDLEA stated that the raids occurred simultaneously at two different locations. One raid targeted a lab in rural Ogun, where agents confiscated drugs and precursors valued at $360 million. In total, three cartel chemists and four others were arrested during this operation.
Meanwhile, in Lagos, agents raided a luxury home, apprehending a local drug lord and seizing items including a passport belonging to a Mexican chemist found at the residence.
In total, 10 arrests were made, including additional local drug lords, though authorities have not confirmed specific cartel affiliations for the Mexican individuals involved.
The arrested Mexicans were identified as Feliz Nemect Martinez, 46, Jesus López Valles, 40, and Juan Carlos Torrero, 51.
This raid aligns with earlier reports indicating that Mexican drug cartels are expanding their operations globally, establishing networks in regions like Europe, Canada, and Australia.
