In an unusual traffic stop in Springfield, Ohio, police were taken aback when they discovered a pet raccoon named Tuney with a methane pipe in its mouth.
According to the Springfield Township Police, Officer Austin Branham had initially pulled over a driver wanted for an aggressive warrant and whose license was suspended.
After safely detaining the driver, Branham went back to the vehicle.
“But things took a surprising turn,” the police statement noted.
Upon his return, Officer Branham spotted a raccoon called “Crunchy” sitting in the driver’s seat, uniquely holding a methamphetamine pipe. This prompted further inspection of the vehicle.
Officers then found a significant quantity of methamphetamine, multiple crack cocaine, and three used glass meth pipes.
“Fortunately, the raccoon is safe, and a report has been filed to assess the situation regarding the ownership of the raccoon,” the police mentioned.
The raccoon’s owner, 55-year-old Victoria Vidal, now faces several drug-related charges and a citation for driving while suspended.
“The raccoon did not suffer any injuries during this incident,” police confirmed.
