Investigation Launched After Ruby Rose’s Allegations Against Katy Perry
Australian police have initiated an investigation following actress Ruby Rose’s recent social media claims of sexual assault against pop star Katy Perry. Perry has categorically denied these accusations.
Although the authorities haven’t confirmed the names of those involved, a source indicated that Rose has been in touch with detectives. Reports clarify that the investigation involves historical allegations connected to an incident in Melbourne from 2010.
The spokesperson for Victoria Police mentioned that detectives from the Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse Investigation Team are handling the case, emphasizing that the alleged incident occurred at a licensed venue in Melbourne’s central business district. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, further comments were considered inappropriate at this time.
This week, Rose took to Meta Threads to express, in a series of posts, that she was assaulted by Perry at the Spice Market nightclub when she was in her twenties.
In a post that appears to have been deleted, Perry described an incident where she alleged Rose behaved aggressively towards her. She claimed that Rose, trying to avoid her, was resting on a friend’s lap when she made an inappropriate advance.
Rose mentioned her plans to approach the police for an investigation, acknowledging that the statute of limitations might have lapsed, but still believing there are grounds for inquiry.
Afterward, Rose stated she could no longer publicly discuss the allegations as she had completed her reports to the police. She clarified that it wasn’t her intention to overlook any messages of support or others’ experiences, but she needed to respect the process.
Speaking on the relief of this step, Rose expressed that it opened the way for healing and moving forward.
In response, representatives for Perry labeled the allegations as “completely false” and described them as dangerous and reckless lies. They also noted that Rose has a history of making serious accusations against various individuals, all of which have been denied.
