Police Officer Injured in Neck near Texas ICE Facility, Several Suspects Detained, Authorities Report

Texas Police Officer Shot in Coordinated Attack

Authorities report that a Texas police officer was shot in the neck late Thursday night during what seems to be a coordinated assault outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility.

Just before 11 PM, officers from the Alvarado Police Station responded to reports of suspicious individuals near the Prairiland ICE Detention Facility in Alvarado, Texas. Upon arrival, an officer encountered an armed suspect, and when another officer attempted to intervene, multiple suspects opened fire, injuring the officer in the neck.

The injured officer was airlifted to a hospital in Fort Worth for treatment and has since been released, according to Alvarado police.

Law enforcement apprehended several armed suspects attempting to flee the scene, with federal sources revealing that eight arrests were made, some of whom were reportedly wearing body armor. Investigations into the attackers’ motives are ongoing.

Initial reports indicate that a group of masked individuals dressed in black arrived at the ICE facility, damaged vehicles and surveillance equipment, and even set off fireworks. Local officials assisted in the arrests alongside the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Department of Justice issued a statement on Saturday, confirming they are “closely monitoring attacks on DHS facilities” in Texas and Portland while coordinating with law enforcement partners. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche emphasized the department’s “zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property,” assuring that those responsible will face the full extent of the law.

The FBI has chosen not to comment specifically on the incident, but Alvarado police are continuing their investigation and encourage anyone with information to contact them at 817-790-0919.
