A police officer in Philadelphia was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon while responding to a disturbance near a high school. The incident occurred around 2:40 PM close to Overbrook High School, as reported by a Philadelphia Police spokesperson.
According to authorities, the officer was shot in the stomach and was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
The officers were attempting to break up a fight when someone opened fire, targeting the officer. The suspect has been apprehended at the scene, and a firearm was found.
