Police on manhunt for Virginia woman who allegedly murdered her elderly roommates

Police are conducting a massive search after three elderly roommates of a Virginia woman were found dead.

The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office said officers were called to a home on White Street Court around 10 p.m. Tuesday for a welfare check, where they found the bodies of two men and one woman, all of whom appeared to have died from upper body trauma.

The victims were identified as 60-year-old Gregory Scott Powell, 65-year-old Carol Ann Reese and 77-year-old Robert John McGuire.

“She’s been accused of a heinous crime.”

Police said they identified the suspect as 23-year-old Alyssa Jane Venable, who lives at the residence.

“Further investigation and evidence gathering revealed that the roommate committed this heinous crime,” the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators said Venable is wanted on three counts of second-degree murder and one count of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Police said she was previously charged with misdemeanor assault and battery in May for a separate incident at the McDonald’s where she works.

Her colleagues remembered her. comment To WUSA-TV.

“If there was a problem, she would yell,” Bianca Smith said. “It seemed like she was always in a frustrated mood.”

Residents living in the area were shocked by the incident.

“I was shocked. When I got the text message it was really just a photo. To me looks can be deceiving,” resident Gary Boxley said. To WTVR-TV. “I don’t know the details, I just know that I read about it. Even if I no longer put up my for sale sign because of this incident, I don’t think it will change anything. I am very aware that this happens everywhere and no one is immune.”

WTTG-TV told Venable’s grandmother called on her to turn herself in.

“Call home. Call home. She’s been accused of a heinous crime and we don’t know the facts,” Jane Venable said.

“We don’t know, but right now my granddaughter is missing and we don’t know if she’s at risk of suicide or not, so we’re just asking, AJ, please call home,” she added.

Police described the suspect as having brown hair, blue eyes, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 228 pounds. It is believed she may have shaved her head to avoid detection.

She is also considered armed and dangerous.

Spotsylvania County is located in the northeastern part of the state and has a population of approximately 145,000.
