Police Confront Supporter of Donald Trump
British police have been captured on video facing off against a supporter of Donald Trump, following a Facebook post that seemed to indicate discomfort. The video, which has gained traction on social media, features Deborah Anderson, a cancer patient and grandmother, who opened her door to officers from the Thames Valley Police Department.
Anderson, a mother of two, allowed the officers inside but expressed her hope that their presence was for a good reason. “I’m a member of the Free Speech Union and an American citizen,” she stated. “I have Elon Musk on my side, so maybe keep your feet off the floor?”
Amid the conversation, Anderson inquired, “Are you here because someone got upset? Is that against the law? Am I under arrest?” The officers reassured her that she had not been arrested, yet the questioning felt ominous. When one officer mentioned an interview might be necessary, it raised further concern.
The Free Speech Union (FSU) commented that the incident, which occurred back in June, seemed troubling. They questioned what crime Anderson may have committed, especially considering her vocal support for Trump and the MAGA movement online.
“It’s even more distressing given that she’s currently undergoing cancer treatment,” they added, criticizing the police’s approach. “Instead of focusing on her recovery, she faced harassment over social media activity.” The FSU also pointed out the irony of these police actions happening during a time when they were ostensibly tasked with protecting Trump.
As a result of the FSU’s intervention, the police confirmed that any legal actions against Anderson had been dropped. Notably, politicians like Tory leader Kemi Badenok have publicly criticized the Thames Valley police for their handling of the situation. Earlier this year, FSU leader Toby Young revealed that British police are arresting an average of 30 individuals daily for social media posts.
