Shocking reports claim local police anti-sniper units were stationed inside the building where suspect Thomas Crooks climbed on top of and fired shots at former President Donald Trump, nearly killing him.

The report appears to confirm a claim made on X by journalist and Air Force veteran Brian Kimber, who cited unconfirmed sources that local SWAT teams were inside the building instead of on the roof because it was hot outside.

The source also suggested that a “man with a weapons case” had been reported to local police, but it is unclear whether that was Crooks or who made the call. The source also claims that the Secret Service sniper who killed Crooks did not shoot him immediately because he knew a local sniper team would be on the roof and he needed to “avoid confrontation.”
“It’s a complete fiasco,” the source wrote in the article.
Another shocking report from local news station WPIX Channel 11 News said police found Crooks on the roof about 30 minutes before he opened fire on Trump.
Sources told Channel 11 that members of the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit (there were eight members at the rally, including a sniper and spotters) noticed a suspicious man on a rooftop near the rally at 5:45 p.m., called 911 and took a photo of the man. It is unclear who called the unit.
Channel 11 also reported that officers had previously seen Crooks on the ground and had reported him as a suspicious person, along with a photo, just before 5:45 p.m. A source told Channel 11 that officers searched the property for Crooks at the time, but did not see him in the area where the first photo was taken.
