The radical left has already targeted not just former President Donald Trump but ordinary Americans, which is why he must win in 2024, Joelyn Meszaros told Breitbart News at the Turning Point USA Young Women’s Leadership Summit (YWLS).
Meszaros, a Texas mother who became a vocal advocate for free speech after being a victim of the Biden campaign’s legal battles, spoke to Breitbart News about her experience, saying her family has faced legal battles at the hands of the Biden campaign for years.
“I don’t think the majority of Americans think that what’s happening to Trump will happen to them, but I would say that not only is it already happening to ordinary people, it’s been happening to me for almost four years,” she said.
“I’m a homeschooling mom here in New Braunfels, Texas, and I’m being sued by Biden White House staff for putting a Trump flag on the side of the Biden bus when it came through Texas in 2020,” she said, explaining that there have been “zero criminal charges.”
“The craziest thing about this is they’re suing us for the emotional damage they caused us, and they’re seeking financial compensation for exercising their free speech,” she said, explaining that she actually didn’t know who she’d vote for in 2020, but was shocked when a friend started yelling at her after she told him she’d likely vote for Trump.
“We had our eye on the Trump train, which was basically a parade of cars that were super excited about the 2020 presidential election coming up. … We thought it might be a great place to make new friends. We’d only been going to parades for about three weeks, but the Biden-Harris campaign bus came through New Braunfels, so we thought it would be fun to ride alongside them and show our support for President Trump,” she said, adding, “We never imagined our lives would change forever.”
“I realized they were violating my constitutional right to free speech. It wasn’t until I was sued that my neighbors said to me, this is free speech, how can they do this, and I was like, ‘What does that even mean?'” she said, explaining that the lawsuit inspired her to learn more about our founding documents and the fundamental rights we have as Americans.
“I have seen what the Founding Fathers wanted to assure us, because they could not predict the future. They have lived through tyranny. I have seen what happens when the wrong people are in power. So here I am thinking, ‘Oh, we have to fight. We are Christians. We are full of faith.’ … We are weak because we are under attack right now. So it must be God who brings the truth and the victory,” she said, explaining that her family cashed out their 401ks and hired lawyers because “we were advised this was a legal war, so no one was going to offer their services for free,” and that the process itself would be a punishment for them.
“The idea is that this process is punitive and will take years and people can’t afford to hire lawyers. And they’re not wrong. We’ve been doing this for the last four years and it’s only with the help of ordinary Americans and grassroots fundraising that we’ve been able to get this far,” she said.
In other words, Meszaros said she and her family have been through something that began before the term loafer was even in common usage.

“I only learned about loafers in 2021 when we started seeking help from nonprofits and elected officials who advocate for First Amendment rights. They kept saying, ‘This is a loafer, this is a loafer,’ and I was like, ‘What does that mean?’ Now I understand,” she said.
“This is a tool the left is using to silence the American people, intimidate political opponents, stifle free speech and interfere in our elections, and we’ve seen it from many angles during President Trump’s impeachment trial,” she said.
“They misled us by saying that Trump incited us as a precursor to the January 6th insurrection, right? They misclassified that, and then they heard the same expert witnesses they hired to portray us as political extremists, domestic terrorists, Christian nationalists under the 14th Amendment, and the same people who are testifying at these hearings that Trump is unworthy of being on the ballot. So you can see how they’ve woven this narrative and we’re just collateral victims,” she said, emphasizing the importance of fighting back no matter what the left throws at us.
“We have a gag order, so we believe there are details in this case that the public needs to know and we can’t make them public, so that’s why we’re fighting the gag order. But what’s interesting about this whole lawsuit is that some of the evidence that’s been presented in the lawsuit, the video from inside the bus, speaks the truth,” she added, explaining that this is why it’s important that Trump wins in 2024.
“Kari Lake was talking about us in conversation with Charlie Kirk, and she ended the thought with, ‘This is why we have to vote. We have to elect the right people to guarantee our freedom.’ [so] “We believe we can continue to be attacked,” she said. “They are attacking us, where is our right to stand up and fight back? We allow this to happen and we are not doing our part to protect ourselves or to shield each other when someone is attacked. I have seen so many times friends and family members be quick to say they love you, but next time we don’t want them to attack us, so we wish them luck,” she said.
“Hannah, can you imagine if the Trump administration had sued Biden supporters for flying rainbow flags?” she asked, pointing out the great hypocrisy of the left.
“The reality is, this is a free speech issue. It cuts across both parties. They attack us first, then they attack everyone else. So those on the left who are cheering this on and defending attacks on free speech because they don’t like the way we express ourselves or who we support are incapable of seeing how this will immediately affect them,” she added.
