A new poll shows one-fifth of Americans think violence may be necessary to get America back on its feet.

pollIt was carried out by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist From March 25thth-28th, revealed that 20% of Americans accept the idea of using violence to achieve political goals, while 79% reject it. Of the 20% who agreed, 6% “strongly” agreed.
The results were split into different categories: race, politics, age, and income.
Additionally, data from survey respondents who responded to a question about their political affiliation shows that Democrats are more likely than Republicans to agree that violence may be necessary to rebuild the nation (7% vs. 5%). %) was revealed.
Independents were also more likely than Democrats to agree that violence could be used, at 18% overall.

The percentages varied by age group, with 42% of the 18-29 demographic agreeing or strongly agreeing that violence may be necessary to take back the country. Meanwhile, 21% strongly disagreed with this idea, while 16% in the 60+ age group and 13% in the 45-59 age group agreed or strongly agreed with the idea.
The poll was conducted among 1,305 U.S. adults and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
