Michigan Senate Race: Rogers Takes Lead Over El-Sayed
Former Congressman Mike Rogers (R) is gaining ground against Democrat Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate race, as revealed by a recent poll conducted by Alliance for a Better Future, which was initially reported by Breitbart News.
This survey indicates a significant change from the tracking poll in September, reflecting a three-point increase for Rogers while El-Sayed’s support remains unchanged. Conducted from October 6 to October 8, 2026, this poll shows Rogers at 46 percent—up from 43 percent—while El-Sayed holds steady at 44 percent, giving Rogers a slight two-point edge just weeks before the election.
The memo accompanying the survey attributes some of Rogers’ improvement to his advocacy for AI security measures, along with the efforts of the conservative organization to emphasize this aspect of his campaign:
In our September survey, the initial ballot showed 44 percent for El-Sayed and 43 percent for Rogers. Following exposure to the ABF’s ad for Rogers, the informed ballot shifted to 47 percent in favor of Rogers and 45 percent for El-Sayed. The hypothetical shift we noted in September has materialized, as Rogers has gained 3 percent of the ballot share over the past two weeks.
Earlier this week, Rogers reiterated his commitment to prioritize the implementation of a national security framework concerning AI.
This aligns with the 81 percent of voters in the survey expressing a desire for more federal regulation of AI.
The poll involved 600 likely voters in Michigan and coincides with a seven-figure advertising campaign by the conservative organization to promote Rogers’ views on AI in September.
As the race unfolds, Rogers has also cautioned that if elected, El-Sayed may not temper his approach.
“Let me tell you, Hasan Piker,” Rogers commented during an appearance on The Ingraham Angle. “Every time Abdul claims to be moderating, Hasan Piker argues, ‘Don’t fall for it. He’s not being honest.’ It’s part of his nature. His sister, a known supporter of Hamas, also suggests that when he claims to be moderating, he’s not really changing at all. He strongly embodies the Democrat, socialist, Islamist type.”
Currently, the RealClearPolling average indicates a tight race, showing El-Sayed leading Rogers by about 2.7 percentage points.
