Polling Shows Strategy of Media Calling Trump a ‘Convicted Felon’ Not Working

The strategy of Democrats and the mainstream media to repeatedly call former President Donald Trump a “convicted felon” following the Manhattan jury verdict isn’t working, Lara Trump told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview.

Breitbart News asked Lara Trump if the label has any impact on the former president among suburban women, and she said the strategy isn’t working.

“I think the focus of suburban women right now is on their kids, their families. They’re saying it’s a lot harder to put food on the table for their families. It’s a lot harder to go to the grocery store and save money, it’s a lot harder to fill up with gas. They don’t feel safe to go places with their kids. They don’t feel safe as women to walk in certain parts of their community anymore,” Trump said after speaking at Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit in San Antonio, Texas.

“These are real issues, and I think they’re much more concerned about that than any label that’s been put on Donald Trump or anything he’s tweeted in the past, and I think that’s why he changed direction so much, even after the jury verdict,” she said, noting that the left’s tactics probably aren’t working as they hoped.

“I know the mainstream media loves to call Donald Trump a convicted felon. That’s literally all they’ve been able to rely on. And clearly that’s not working because the poll numbers actually went up immediately after the verdict,” she noted.

“His approval rating has since gone up by five or six points,” she said, noting that this is true across the board.

“Whether it’s a suburban woman, whether it’s a Black voter, whether it’s a Hispanic voter, everybody’s life is suffering right now and people want life to get back to normal. They want their country back. They want their lives back. They want a peace deal in the Middle East, not a war in the Middle East. And they know who brought that about and I think that’s why they’re going to vote for Donald Trump,” the Republican National Committee co-chair predicted.
