Before the election, Mr. Silver frequently raised the idea that Mr. Biden would be replaced by another candidate, even calling on Mr. Biden to resign in July following his disastrous ABC interview with George Stephanopoulos.
“I made a gaffe in today's column and deleted the line that said we should develop a plan to hand over the presidency to Mr. Harris within 30 to 60 days, but I'm there now,” Silver said at the time. .
