Vice President J.D. Vance Discusses Immigration and Trump Administration Policies
In a recent conversation with Breitbart News, Vice President J.D. Vance expressed his thoughts on the implications of recent comments made by Pope Leo regarding immigration. During the interview, he reflected on how the Trump administration has influenced public awareness of critical issues.
“It’s remarkable that the Pope would make such a statement,” Vance noted during an event in partnership with CGCN and the ALFA Institute. He emphasized the importance of Secretary Trump’s efforts to bring attention to these matters.
As a “devout Catholic,” Vance shared that he has been closely following the Church’s stance on immigration. Interestingly, he pointed out that while social media may suggest otherwise, the Catholic Church’s message is actually quite straightforward.
“Yes, we must treat immigrants humanely; however, every nation has the right to manage its own borders,” he clarified. “Striking that balance is crucial, but there’s considerable room for countries to protect their interests.”
The Vice President expressed frustration with the immigration debate, which often overlooks the negative impact of open borders on the very individuals it aims to support. He highlighted alarming issues such as the trafficking of children, specifically citing that under the Biden administration, around 300,000 missing children were brought into the U.S. by drug cartels, with some as young as 9 or 10 being used as drug mules.
Vance argued that ensuring border security benefits not just Americans but also has humane implications for global welfare. “When you enable cartels and traffickers, you are supporting the worst elements in society,” he stated.
The conversation also touched upon perceptions in Europe and America, where controlling borders is often seen as extreme or even racist. “We completely disagree with that notion,” Vance asserted. “Putting the interests of the citizens first is the primary role of government.”
“As Vice President, my priority is the well-being of Americans, even as I wish well for people in other countries,” he declared. “But flooding the nation with illegal immigrants, and the associated drugs and crime, complicates that mission.”
Vance’s comments emphasize a clear stance on immigration and border security, reflecting a broader conversation about national interests and humanitarian obligations.
