Populist Political Activist Assaulted in Apparent Leftist Attack in Paris

In the latest example of right-wing politicians facing violence in Europe, a populist political activist on Friday reported being assaulted in Paris.

Chairman of Eric Zemmour’s youth movement “Reconquet!” Stanislas Rigaud, 24, of the Reconquista anti-immigration party, was attacked by a group of six or seven people on Friday night while waiting for a taxi in the 14th arrondissement of the French capital, and filed a police report. He said he had submitted it.

According to police officials quoted by le figaroZemur Generation was apparently denounced by left-wing groups after they identified him as a right-wing activist and started shouting “fascist” and “Nazi” at young people.

“They started telling me there was nothing to do there,” Rigaud told the Record.

A female member of the group started pushing him, he said, adding, “I pushed her away and at that moment she spat at me.”

At the time of this report, police have not yet identified the culprit.

Reconciliation! is not the first time populist parties have faced political violence. Leader and former presidential candidate Eric Zemmour was injured during a campaign rally in 2021, and 39 Atifa radicals were arrested, some armed with Molotov cocktails and “bottles of acid.”

Zemur is not alone in facing attacks from Antifa, with the radical left-wing group’s Dutch branch claiming responsibility for the assault on Forum for Democracy (FvD) leader Thierry Baudet, and the teenager A young man hit him on the side of the head with a beer glass. Members of the group whose December campaign is suspended.

Last summer in Germany, Andreas Jurka, leader of the populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the Augsburg region of Bavaria, said he was brutally attacked by a group of migrants on his way to an election event.

A few days later, Beatrix von Storch, an AfD member of the German Bundestag, was attacked in Daun by a man carrying dog feces.
