Senator J.D. VanceBiden, who is being considered as a potential Republican candidate to run alongside former President Trump in the 2024 presidential election, accused the Biden campaign of inciting violence against Trump.
The Ohio senator wrote in a social media post that the attempted assassination of President Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday was “not just an isolated incident.”
“The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs,” Vance wrote on X.

The Ohio senator was once a vocal critic of Trump, but has openly supported him since the former president’s first term.

Republican strategists argue that choosing Vance as his running mate would send a message of confidence to Trump’s core supporters and double down on his policies.
Trump’s other Republican running mate, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, similarly blamed the shootings on left-wing rhetoric.
“Let me be clear: this was an assassination attempt aided and abetted by the radical left and corporate media, who continually call Trump a threat to democracy, a fascist and worse,” he wrote on social media after the shooting.
