PragerU CEO Marissa Streit Explains How the U.S. Can Scrap Department of Education on the Federal Level

Progeru CEO Marissa Streit explained to Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow how the US will destroy the federal-level Department of Education.

“Is there any point in having a Department of Education at the federal level?” Marlow asked in Tuesday's episode. Alex Marlow ShowStrait said, “Because at the federal level, most of the time it's about disbanding checks.

“If Americans want to fund states from the federal level, the Treasury can do that,” Streit proposed.

“If the federal government wants to distribute checks, it can be done through the Treasury Department,” added Pragel CEO. “Just write a check and you don't need a secondary additional department.”

Streit went on to explain that “one of the Department of Education's biggest spending was the loan waiver program.”

“I personally don't think Americans should pay every loan for every American,” she said. “Frankly, there are a lot of loans taken out for university degrees that our society doesn't want, appreciate, and doesn't need.”

But when it comes to private, “the marketplace will support the degree our society actually needs,” Streit said.

The CEO of Prager continued:

Should a plumber in the US pay the loan forgiveness of someone to the extent they are trying to study balloon-blowing research or theatre research? Is that fair? And should we vote where we spend our money? As long as there is a Ministry of Education that only offers these blanket loan forgiveness programs, you won't say where to spend your money. And we're talking about billions of dollars that hardworking Americans are responsible for paying, not just a small amount.

“These are some of the major spending that the Department of Education has enlisted,” Streit said.

“One is Title I. We support the state financially with children who need financial support because they are children who are unable to get an education,” continued the CEO of Prageru.

“It can be done through the Treasury Department, by the way, along with a choice of school, you can go directly to your parents instead of going directly to the state.

Streit also said, “This is an even stronger recommendation for children with special needs.” I remember that my family then worked with “they couldn't find a government school, even if they had the funds,” and “the blind child in California.”

“They couldn't find a public school that could actually support their needs, so they wanted to go to a private school that could support their needs. But they couldn't use government funds for that,” Pragel CEO said.

“So imagine you can actually provide a voucher to your family, where you can take special needs kids to a real special needs school where they can help them.

“That's a huge amount of money spent through the Department of Education,” Streit says.
