A Pennsylvania woman who was pregnant and just days away from giving birth, along with her two young children, were tragically among eight victims killed in a mass shooting at a home in Erie on Friday. Local reports indicated that Angelina Stone was eight months pregnant when she lost her life alongside her children and other relatives.
According to CBS Pittsburgh, Stone was only four days away from her due date, while a family friend stated that she was expected to deliver “in a couple of days.” A GoFundMe account created to assist with funeral costs identified her children as Isiah and Amari’anna, and her unborn baby was named Kyrie.
This incident, described by neighbor Jennifer Macko as “horrific and unimaginable,” left the community in shock. Lisa Simmers, a family friend, mourned the loss of Stone’s children, recalling them as “beautiful, beautiful children” who “did not deserve what happened.” She mentioned that Stone had a nearly two-year-old daughter and a son, Isiah, who was around four or five.
Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah reported that the shooting resulted in eight fatalities before the suspected gunman, a 45-year-old man, died from what authorities believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man was described as related to seven of the eight victims, being both a patriarch and a grandfather, while the eighth victim was a family friend.
Chief Lorah also indicated that mental health issues might have influenced the shooting, though he cautioned it was premature to ascertain a concrete motive. Investigators suspect all eight victims, along with the gunman, had died prior to the police’s arrival at the scene.
The fundraiser for Stone’s family expressed a deep need for community support, stating, “This is more than our family can carry alone right now. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial burden.” The local police department continues to investigate the tragedy.
