For many mothers, there are few things more unsettling than what happened recently in Los Angeles.
Kirstin Manson, a tech executive and expectant mother, was out for a walk in West Hollywood with her almost 2-year-old daughter when they encountered two homeless individuals blocking their way.
Being heavily pregnant and worried for her child’s safety, Manson found herself in a precarious spot between a vagrant and busy traffic. They hurried past the distressing figures, shaken by the incident as they made their way home.
Despite arriving back safely, Manson felt compelled to share her experience online, posting photos and detailing her frightening encounter. Her story resonated widely, highlighting the dangers present even in seemingly upscale parts of the city.
“Here I am, ten months pregnant, just trying to enjoy a walk with my kid… and I end up trapped by two intimidating figures,” she noted in a popular X post that showed her daughter approaching the unsettling scene.
“My heart raced, and all I could think about was keeping my children safe as chaos surrounds us,” she continued.
This incident has since reached over 367,000 views on social media.
Manson mentioned that she had previously supported Mayor Karen Bass and Councilor Nitya Raman but has now lost faith in them, declaring she will vote for Spencer Pratt in the next mayoral election.
“I backed you once, but I can’t do it again,” she expressed. “We’re done watching our neighborhoods fall apart.” She added that she wants someone in office who seeks real accountability and results.
“My kids deserve better. It’s time for genuine change.”
Manson recounted to reporters how this incident unfolded while she was just walking from a doctor’s appointment with her daughter. She described her fear, and how shocking it felt that things had deteriorated so badly.
She had encountered others in distress on the streets before, but that day was particularly unsettling for her. After safely returning home, she posted about the ordeal, which rapidly garnered attention.
Her post invited a wave of responses, with many sharing similar experiences from their own cities. One user from Austin echoed her sentiments about the growing issues surrounding homelessness.
While she engaged with the supportive comments, Manson has since decided to take a step back from social media to focus on her well-being, as she approaches the end of her pregnancy.
“I’m just trying to keep things calm as I could go into labor any day now,” she shared.
