President Biden’s physician met with Parkinson’s disease specialist in White House

A top Washington, D.C., neurologist met with President Biden’s physician at the White House earlier this year, according to visitor records reviewed by The Washington Post.

According to the records, Dr. Kevin Canard, a Parkinson’s disease specialist at Walter Reed Medical Center, met with Dr. Kevin O’Connor and two others at the White House residential clinic on Jan. 17. The records came to light as questions continue to swirl about the 81-year-old president’s mental state following his debacle during last week’s debate with former President Trump.

Dr. John E. Atwood, a cardiologist at Walter Reed, also attended the 5 p.m. meeting, according to White House visitor records.

Cannard is an authority on Parkinson’s disease and has worked at Walter Reed Hospital for nearly 20 years.

According to LinkedIn, he has worked since 2012 as a “neurology specialist supporting the White House Medical Unit.”

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), who served as physician to both Presidents Obama and Trump, said the conversation was likely about the commander in chief because Biden’s health care is O’Connor’s primary responsibility.

“It’s very possible they were talking about Biden,” Jackson told The Post.

O’Connor has served as Biden’s official physician since his inauguration in January 2021 and is in daily contact with the president.

Jackson, who has never treated Biden, claimed the president’s physicians, along with the first family, are trying to “cover up” the president’s declining cognitive abilities after he made several bizarre gaffes and false statements during a Fourth of July holiday celebration at the White House.

Jackson has long warned about Biden’s deteriorating mental health, and after the June 27 debate’s disastrous performance he said it was evidence Biden was suffering from “cognitive impairment” and called for him to resign.

Dr Rob Howard, professor of geriatric psychiatry, University of Londonsaid President Biden is exhibiting many symptoms suggestive of Parkinson’s disease.

Howard said the president’s “fluctuations in attention, the look on his face, the way he walks” were signs that something was wrong, adding that he had not examined Biden and would not make a formal diagnosis.

“I’m not saying he has Parkinson’s, I’m just pointing out that he has characteristics consistent with Parkinson’s.”

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kansas), a physician himself, said that “many in the medical community have suspected for several years that the president may have Parkinson’s disease.”

“Sadly, more than half a million Americans suffer from this progressive neurological disease, and if the president of the United States is among them, the American people should know before they vote in November,” he told The Post.

Messrs. Cannard and Atwood declined to comment.

“Physicians from a variety of specialties from Walter Reed visit the White House to care for the thousands of military members who serve on the grounds,” a White House spokesman said, without responding to questions about who O’Connor, Cannard and Atwood had met with.
