Trump Marks One Year in Office with Achievements
As of Tuesday, President Donald Trump has been back in the Oval Office for a full year. His administration claims to have delivered on all major campaign promises from the past 12 months, pointing to significant victories.
White House press secretary Caroline Levitt mentioned, “President Trump accomplished more in one year than many presidents have in eight. He secured the border, tackled Biden’s inflation crisis, signed the largest middle-class tax cut ever, ended so-called woke DEI activities, and restored America’s power globally.” She also noted that America is “safer, stronger, and more prosperous” under Trump’s leadership, with even greater things anticipated.
In this year, Trump has signed over 225 executive orders, surpassing the 220 he signed during his first four years. These orders have pushed his agenda forward, from stricter immigration policies to crime reduction efforts and deregulating energy sectors.
Immigration has been a cornerstone of Trump’s campaign, where he committed to closing the border and deporting illegal immigrants, amidst what he termed a crisis that could extend until 2025. Presently, Customs and Border Protection reports record figures, with zero parolees noted for December 2025, a stark contrast to 7,041 in December 2024 during Biden’s term.
Nationwide encounters with immigrants have reportedly fallen to 91,603 from October to December 2025, achieving a record low and 25% below the previous record in 2012. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized this data as proof of Trump securing the “most secure” border in U.S. history.
Reflecting on his inauguration speech from a year ago, Trump proclaimed that the U.S. would once again become prosperous and respected globally, stating, “We will be the envy of every nation and no longer allow ourselves to be taken advantage of.” He added that U.S. sovereignty and security would be restored.
Since retaking office, Trump has called the U.S. the “hottest nation” amid claims of diminished global standing under Biden. He highlighted a May 2025 Gulf visit that secured $600 billion in investments from Saudi Arabia and significant economic exchanges with Qatar and the UAE.
In trade, new agreements, like a July 30, 2025 deal with South Korea—which reduced tariffs to 15%—have also been highlighted as markers of progress. As the 2024 campaign revs up, the economy remains a priority, with Trump promising to address inflation and foster economic conditions reminiscent of his first term.
Under Biden, inflation spiked to the highest in 40 years, with 30-year mortgage rates climbing from below 3% to around 8%. However, by December 2025, inflation dropped to 2.7%, and mortgage rates eased to about 6.06%. The administration employs strategies like purchasing mortgage bonds to reduce borrowing costs.
Nonetheless, concerns over the cost of living linger, and Democrats have capitalized on this, achieving victories in three key elections in November 2025 by advocating for lower housing and food costs.
Energy and trade continue to be primary areas of focus for Trump. He has announced tariffs on several foreign countries intending to balance trade and bolster the U.S. economy, though this is currently under scrutiny by the Supreme Court.
On the energy front, gas prices have fallen to an average of $2.67 per gallon, down from approximately $3.08 a year prior, attributed to efforts to “unlock” domestic energy resources.
Since returning to power, Trump has used executive authority to expand domestic energy production, including initiatives to streamline permitting for oil and gas projects. His administration aims to position U.S. liquefied natural gas exports at the forefront of its energy plans.
President Trump encapsulates a doctrine of “peace through strength,” advocating for a robust military and clear deterrence strategies. He believes that a fortified military and a tougher stance against adversaries will contribute to global stability.
In recent events, the administration has targeted Iran to terminate its nuclear aspirations and successfully captured Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.
In a statement aimed at the nation, Trump asserted, “We are making America great again. Inflation has ceased, wages have increased, and prices have declined. Our country is stronger and respected again.”
