Farmers to Receive Diesel Cost Relief, Trump Announces
Farmers throughout the United States will soon see some relief from rising diesel costs, President Donald Trump declared during a rally near Wichita, Kansas, on Monday evening, as reported by CBS News.
As Trump rallies support for the upcoming midterm elections in November, he shared this news with an enthusiastic audience. “Tonight I’m also pleased to announce that the Department of Agriculture will be launching a new Harvest Fuel Relief program, providing our farmers with $8 billion in support to offset diesel costs during this harvest season. And Roger Marshall is the leader who fought for that to happen. Roger got it to happen. Good job, Roger,” he stated.
Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) is currently campaigning against Democrat Adam Hamilton for a U.S. Senate seat.
Trump continued, “And when the Republicans win, we will pass even more funding for our farmers. We love our farmers. And remember, I just gave the farmers $12 billion, and in my first term, I gave them $28 billion, if you remember. That came out of the tariff money from China, when China paid it. It was a gift from China.”
According to reports from earlier this month, while diesel prices are notably high, they aren’t at record levels. The national average price stands at $6.3151 per gallon, which is a slight decrease from a previous average of $6.4391.
These figures are considerably lower than historical highs. For instance, the diesel price of $4.764 per gallon on July 14, 2008, translates to about $7.26 in August 2026 dollars, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index.
As for the rally itself, it was reported that the venue was completely filled, with every seat taken.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins praised Trump’s announcement on social media, also emphasizing the administration’s ongoing efforts to support farmers. She wrote, “Our farmers aren’t just growing crops. They’re carrying forward a way of life built on faith, family, hard work, and freedom. That legacy is worth fighting for. Under President Trump, USDA will ALWAYS have their backs. God bless Kansas and the farmers and ranchers who keep America strong!”
